LCK Awards is a award held since 2022 by the Korean League of Legends to honor the best individuals of the region in the year. By 2024, the prize will be held tomorrow, December 29 and will announce all awards. Accordingly, the award received the most attention was the player of the year with 4 candidates Choevy, Faker, Oner and Peanut.
Chovy
The 2024 season is considered relatively successful with Chovy as well as the Geng team. With a strong squad, owning world-class stars, Geng won two titles in the 2024 season, LCK Spring and Mid-Season Invitational. In particular, ChoVy is also considered as an excellent individual with high performance, especially in the mid -line Meta exploded.
However, Geng is not good in the second half of the season with 3 consecutive defeats at the Esports World Cup (EWC), LCK Summer and World Championship. In all three tournaments, Chovy also shows very disappointing when it is impossible to maintain their performance before the mid lines such as Knight, Zeka and Faker. Accordingly, it will be difficult to give the honor at the player award of the year.
Peanut
The Peanut appearing on the nominee list is also very surprising. In the 2024 season, this player and Hanwha Life Esports won the third place in the spring, winning the summer before being eliminated early in the 2024 World finals in the quarterfinals. In these tournaments, Peanut, though well performed but not even appreciated as the teammate is the VIPER gunner.
Although still one of the leading junglers in the world, Peanut will be very difficult to be honored at the player award of the year. Even at the jungle award of the year, Peanut is not necessarily competitive compared to ONER of T1 and Canyon of Geng.
Oner
In this year's journey to protect the world championship, Oner still plays a very important role in the T1 squad. Different from the gameplay, all the fighting and fighting champions like 2023 with Sejuani, Rell, this year Oner is used more generals with the most inconsistent options, Vi and Xin Zhao.
However, Oner's performance in 2024 was not impressive enough to help the player win the player of the year. However, it is not possible to underestimate the contributions of this jungler and Oner still has the highest chance to win the forest award of the year.
Faker
The majority of fans predict that T1's captain will be the one who won this award for the second time in a row. Although T1 did not win any domestic title, LCK Awards still considering the performance in international tournaments. At two events in the second half of the 2024, Esports World Cup and World Championship, Faker excelled in winning the Finals MVP award.
Earlier, Faker was also honored at awards such as Esports Award (PC player of the year), League Awards (player of the year) and The Game Award (Esports player of the year). Accordingly, Faker is likely to continue to be honored with the final award of the year of the Korean region.
