The World Championship 2024 is the largest tournament of the League of Legends year, which will be held from September 25-2-2 in Germany, France and England. The tournament will consist of three stages: play-in, Swiss round and play-off round. The play-in tournament round will take place from September 25-29 in Germany with 8 teams participating.

In terms of formula, the teams will be divided into 4 pairs, playing in the formula of the winning – branch losing to select 4 teams into the Swiss round. On the evening of September 1, Riot Games conducted the draw of the first matches of the play-in round, right after the final of the LEC Season Finals 2024, where G2 Esports won 3-1 against Fnatic.
The teams participating in the play-in round include: Seed No. 3 Lec (Mad Lions Koi), Seed No. 3 LCS, No. 1 seed PCS (PSG Talon), Seed No. 1 VCS (GAM ESPORTS) in Group 1. Group 2 including Seed No. 2 PCS (SoftBank Hawks), VCS No. 2 Seed VCS (Vikings Esports), No. 1 Latam Seed (Movistar R7) Brazil.
According to the draw results, the first matches of the play-in round include:
– Mad Lions Koi – Vikings Esports
– PSG Talon – Brazil's No. 1 seed
– GAM ESPORTS – Softbank Hawks
– Seed No. 3 LCS – Movistar R7

The No. 3 seed LCS will be determined after the final of the loss between Flyquest – 100 Thievves, and the Brazilian champion was decided after the final between Pain Gaming and Vivo Keyd Stars.
According to the draw results, Vikings Esports will meet the strongest team play-in round, Mad Lions Koi, while the same branch and PSG Talon. With the Esports GAM, the Vietnamese champion will be easier to breathe when confronting Japan representatives, the No. 3 seed LCS and R7. Due to the defeat of the LCS representative in the 2023 World Championship, the Esports GAM had the opportunity to enter the Swiss round, repeating last year's achievement.
