According to the Regional Valorant electronic sports director, Eric Feng said VCT China will add a salary limit for the player as well as the requirement of the minimum wage.
“It is difficult to say that all results will be completely satisfactory. But we hope that through our efforts, our players can find a good team to compete and then we can improve the level of competition,” Eric Feng emphasized.
The limit of salary is not new in electronic sports. League of Legends tournaments in China have implemented the salary limit by 2020. Besides, the League of Legends tournaments in Korea and Europe also announced that they will provide a regulation on salary limits for the 2024 season. In Korea and Europe, the salary limit is called sports financial regulations.
The idea behind the provision of salary limits is “allowing teams, players and sustainable development tournaments by adjusting the salary spending of each team at the appropriate level”. Over the years, many teams have competed for the best players with the “blockbuster” contracts despite the imbalance of the salary fund.
At this time, all is still unclear whether the salary limit is made in VCT tournaments other than China. Meanwhile, the regulation of the salary limit also varies depending on the nation, more complicated the implementation of them worldwide for Valorant electronic sports.
