In 2024, Riot Games announced the change of League of Legends in the Asia -Pacific region when consolidating VCS tournaments (Vietnam), PCS (Taipei – Southeast Asia), LCO (Oceania), LJL (Japan) into a single tournament, LCP. After that, a series of VCS teams announced to withdraw from the League of Legends when not attending the LCP made fans worried about the future of the tournament.
On January 14, Riot Games officially announced the VCS tournament. At the beginning of the announcement, Riot Games has confirmed that he will continue to organize VCS in 2025 with VNGGames and Vietnam Entertainment Electronic Sports Association (Viresa). In addition, VCS 2025 officially belongs to the national championship system of electronic sport content.
Riot Games wrote in the announcement: “The tournament will aim to raise social awareness as well as promote the participation of sports training of the community, and create a strong impression on the continuous development of the Vietnam Electronic Sports. This”.
Regarding the route of VCS 2025, the tournament will still be divided into two seasons: spring and summer with the final round. Accordingly, the spring will play from 28/2-30/3, the summer tournament plays from May 21 to June 22 and the final round will compete in 3 days, from 29-31/August. The VCS 2025 championship team will win the only level to attend the promotion round to compete in the LCP 2026 tournament.
The competition format of VCS 2025 is as follows:
VCS 2025 Spring:
– Play online from February 28, 2025 – March 30, 2025
– Including 8 teams: 4 guest teams – 4 teams winning the Road to VCS
– Swiss round:
+ 8 teams playing in Swiss format
+ 6 teams with the best achievement to continue on the playoffs
+ 2 teams with the lowest achievement will be relegated
– Playoffs round:
+ 6 teams playing in the Double Elimination format (Best-of-3 and Best-of-5)
+ The Spring Championship team has the capacity to attend the VCS 2025 final round
+ The team with the lowest achievement will be relegated
VCS 2025 Summer:
– Play online from May 21, 2025 – June 22, 2025
– Including 8 teams:
+ 1 team LCP Academy
+ 4 teams of the highest achievement in the spring
+ 3 highest teams in Road to VCS summer
– Swiss round:
+ 8 teams playing in Swiss format
+ 6 teams with the best achievement to continue on the playoffs
+ 2 teams with the lowest achievement will be relegated
– Playoffs round:
+ 6 teams playing in the Double Elimination format (Best-of-3 and Best-of-5)
+ 3 teams with the highest achievement in the summer with the capacity of VCS 2025
+ The team with the lowest achievement will be relegated
VCS 2025 Final round:
– Play offline from August 29, 2025 – August 31, 2025
+ Including 4 teams: 1 spring champion – 3 highest achievement teams in the summer
+ Play in the form of live category-Best-of format
+ The VCS 2025 champion team will have the rate of LCP 2026
