On February 10, Esports World Cup announced that Valorant would become the official competition of the event. This is also the first time Riot Games's FPS game has become the official competition at Esports World Cup, after not appearing in 2024.
Along with the official appearance at this year's event, Riot Games also ensures that this subject will continue to participate in Esports World Cup in 2026 and 2027.
In terms of formula, the subject will have 16 teams attending, divided into two stages of the group stage and play-off. In the group stage, 16 teams were divided into 4 tables, competing for 3 days to select 8 teams to play-off. The tables will compete according to the winning branch – the losing branch, similar to the Champions tournament. After that, the teams will be divided into a live pairing pair until the champion is found.
Currently, information on the allocation of competition and qualifiers has not been announced by the Esports World Cup organizers. According to Valo2asia reported, 16 participating teams will be selected from 40 organizations participating in the Club Program of Esports World Cup. Up to this point, 30/40 eSports organization has a Valorant team participating in VCT tournament systems.
Earlier, Esports World Cup announced the attendance of the Club Program “does not mean winning tickets directly attending the Esports World Cup”. Perhaps, the organizers will create a separate qualifying round for organizations with Valorant teams to compete for this event.
