Riot Games confirmed that MSI 2024 will take place at the Thanh Do Finance City Art Performing Center. This is not the first time the tournament has been held in China. However, MSI 2024 was the first time the capital hosted the tournament.
LPL areas (China), LCK (South Korea), LCS (North America) and LEC (Europe) will have 2 teams participating in MSI 2024. Meanwhile, LLA (Latin America), CBLOL (Brazil), PCS (Asia – Pacific) and VCS (Vietnam) have only 1 capacity.
Play -in round: takes place from 1/5 to 5/5
– 8 teams including champions LLA, CBLOL, PCS, VCS and runner -up of LPL, LCK, LEC, LCS tournaments.
– The teams will be drawn evenly into 2 tables. Accordingly, each table has 4 teams divided into 2 branches, competing in the formula of the winning branch – the branch lost, selecting 2 teams to enter the Bracket round.
– All matches are determined by the BO3.
Bracket round: Taking place from 7/5 – May 19
– 8 teams consist of 4 teams that pass the first round and 4 teams of LPL, LCK, LEC and LCS championships.
– The teams will be drawn into 4 pairs, continue playing according to the winning branch – the branch lost until the MSI 2024 champion.
– All matches are determined by the Bo5.
The MSI 2024 championship team will certainly get a ticket to Worlds 2024 and count as an additional capacity for their area. The second most good achievement in MSI 2024 will receive an extra seed. To ensure that the team with Worlds 2024 will still try to play in the domestic tournament, they have to enter the summer play-off round of their regional tournament. However, the new regulation does not apply to LEC because the team will go straight to their regional finals.
