With the new formula, the group stage of the LPL is divided into 4 stages: the draw, the division stage, the group stage and the play-off ticket stage.
Stage 1: Lucky
– 17 teams are divided into 4 seed levels based on the achievement of LPL Spring 2024.
– Based on the principle of avoiding teams with a group of groups together, 4 teams including JD Gaming, LNG Esports, Team We and Ninjas In Pyjamas will be divided into 4 groups (A, B, C, D), then the remaining teams will be divided into groups by drawing by drawing, ensuring each group has 4 teams from all 4 seed levels.
Stage 2: Divide the board
– The teams in 4 groups (A, B, C, D) will play the BO3 circle 2 times (the first leg and the return leg) to determine the rankings in the group, the last 2 teams of each group will enter the lower branch, while the top 9 teams will enter the upper branch. All matches are delineated by the BO3.
– Starting from this round will play in the form of “Fearless Draft” as follows: The teams cannot choose the generals used earlier in the same pair of Bo3. For example, if a team selects Aatrox in game 1, both teams will not be able to select this champion in the remaining two games.
Stage 3: group stage
During this period, the two branches will play in the form of BO3 circle 1 round. The last 4 teams of the lower branch will be eliminated, the top 7 teams of the upper branch will enter the live qualifying round, and the last 2 standing in the upper branch will and the top 4 teams at the lower branch will enter the play-off ticket.
Stage 4: Play-off tickets
At this stage, 6 teams will play live to select 3 teams to enter the play-off round. All matches are defined by Bo5. Thus, the play-off round still has 10 teams like previous seasons.
