Entering the 2025 season, Riot Games has announced many important changes. In particular, the application/choice of Fearless Draft is the biggest change, directly affecting the choice of the team's squad. Up to the present time, Fearless Draft will be applied to the first regional tournaments of the year and the International First Stand 2025.
The Fearless Draft formula is simply understood that the champions chosen in the previous game will not be used in the next game, that is, the default will be banned. Thus, if a Bo5 match extends to game 5, at least 40 generals used in the previous 4 games will be banned. It can be understood, Fearless Draft is created to limit the selection of repeated generals in professional matches, easily boring.
However, information from the previous Riot Games said that Fearless Draft will only be used until the end of the First Stand 2025. A series of League of Legends fans on forums are calling for Riot Games to apply this format during the season. According to many comments, Fearless Draft will make the matches more interesting, expanding the generals of the players, avoiding the situation of choosing a formation of 5 games.
Not only the community, the players and coaches are directly involved in the ban/choice also support Fearless Draft. The head coach of G2 Esports – Dylan Falco commented that Fearless Draft allows professional League of Legends to really show tactical complexity. Meanwhile, Dylan's former student, Yike, also commented that Fearless Draft will help the “new” professional environment back, avoiding the situation of 1 general that appears continuously in a match.
Currently, Riot Games has not made a specific notice of Fearless Draft. In the immediate future, this format is still applied at First Stand 2025, a new international tournament of professional League of Legends, taking place in Korea from March 10-16.
