Ahead of the summer tournament 2024, the LCS Organizing Committee announced important changes for the tournament. Accordingly, LCS will officially switch to competing in BO3 format instead of Bo1 as before. Besides, the teams will also play only one match instead of the first leg and the second leg as usual.

Initially, LCS fans welcomed this change. However, when entering the season, many viewers quickly realized the problem of the tournament. According to the schedule, the summer LCS has three weeks on June 30-20. Even so, many fans have said that the time to leave is too long.
Other tournaments in the world such as LCK or LEC also have a break but only lasts 1 week to make room for Esports World Cup. Even the LPL tournament still takes place at the same time with the event in Saudi Arabia.
The creator of Travis Gafford content has also posted a video on this issue, so that the break time is too long, fans no longer can create a habit of watching the prize, from which the number of viewers decline. According to the Esports Charts, the average number of LCS viewers this season is about 80,000, while the CBLOL (Brazil) tournament is up to 126,000 and LCK has 259,000 average viewers.
Besides, the schedule is too short when only playing 1 turn as well as 2 matches/week is very difficult to keep the audience staying with LCS. However, the current positive point is that the LCS teams have many young talents, which can make the tournament's attractiveness and keep the viewer, before the LCS is merged with South America to become the Americas tournament by 2025.
