Riot Games has officially announced the Global Power Rankings, also known as the power rankings of the teams. In particular, the teams participating in Worlds 2024 are receiving special attention. According to the published list, 80 teams are rated from all highest level tournaments from all areas of the world.
The publisher of League of Legends also revealed how to assess the strength of the teams. The criteria include: the strength of the opponent, the winning amplitude (the winning chain & the losing chain) and the competition information (the results in the big tournaments will be highly appreciated than the regional tournament).
At the first ranking of the Global Power Rankings, Geng is the team that is most assessed in the world. The Summer LCK Runner -up 2024 was 1663 points with a record of 43 wins. Meanwhile, LPL's Bilibili Gaming is highly appreciated with 1602 points, Hanwha Life Esports ranked third (1572 points) and Top Esports (1508 points).
The defending champion of the T1 world champion ranked 6th on this ranking with 1467 points, ranked below G2 Esports. Meanwhile, GAM is currently standing in the 37th world, the second strongest team among the teams not in large areas including LCK, LPL, LEC and LCS. VCS Vikings Esports runner -up stands in rank 48, right below the Brion of LCK.
However, this ranking still causes much controversy. LPL teams, though not attending the 2024 World Championship such as NIP, Anyone's Legend or Funplus Phoenix, still reached the top 20 rankings. Even, WE, despite the penultimate at the Summer LPL 2024, is still rated on teams like Kwangdong Freecs, Cloud9 or Fearx.
