Coach Shouta: 'The fact that the players want to leave Baam to find a stable stop is inevitable'

– Hello coach Shouta, you can introduce a little about yourself for the readers of Thethao.vn?

Hello readers Thethao.vnI'm Pham Quang Thang, also known as “Shouta”. I am a former player as well as the former coach of the Syg Esports team (Team Big Baam).

Shouta was the first member of Baam before moving to the coach position.

– How do you evaluate the last 2021 season of Valorant? What has left you the most impression?

In 2021, Team Big Baam played quite successfully with 7 championships in the domestic tournament and reached the Top 6 of VCT: Sea Stage 3 Challengers Play-Off. It was also the best achievement of Vietnamese teams in the Southeast Asia tournament and made me feel most impressed by 2021.

– Big Baam team has made many personnel changes after the stage 3. Where is the main cause of this change from?

After Tony Nguyen Ngung sponsored, Team Big Baam went through a difficult period until the new sponsor appeared. At that time, Nguyen “Tinh-sama” Xuan Tinh stood up to support the members. However, Tinh-sama's sponsorship has no binding contracts. Therefore, the script of players who want to find new stops is more stable than inevitable.

Later, Redneval joined Cerberus Esports. Meanwhile, Crazyguy joined Nigma Galaxy abroad. Not wanting to stop at the Vietnamese championship has been his long -standing ambition. The story of Crazyguy attached to the Big Baam team until the end of the stage 3 is also because of the brotherhood in the team.

– Team Big Baam decided to recruit Mef and Mowf to replace Redneval and Crazyguy. What do you think about the potential of these two players?

To replace Redneval and Crazyguy, the Big Baam team sat down to discuss with each other. At that time, I voted for MOEF and MOWF. Both of them were born in 2003 and 2000, they were very young and potential.

– How is the training intensity of the Big Baam team before attending the Fbang Sea EC 2021 Vietnam Cup finals?

Team Big Baam practice about 5-6 days/week. Every day, we 2 shifts and each shift are 2 competition maps (full 24 games). However, we had human resources disturbances, so we also tried to change agents in the tournament. A month is really not enough for team members, so it leads to unexpected results.

In addition, the Valorant tournaments in Vietnam at this time take place continuously. At that time, the Big Baam team attended 2 consecutive tournaments, Royal Sea Challenge and Synnex FPT Gaming Tournament. Therefore, the Big Baam team also does not have enough time to prepare for Fbang Sea EC 2021.

– Big Baam team only ranked 2nd in Group A, after Division X Gaming. In your opinion, where is the biggest problem of the Big Baam team?

In my opinion, the shortcoming point of the Big Baam team lies in the ability to coordinate between members and the inexperience of new players. On the other hand, the problem of the Big Baam team is that there is no player calling for real fighting in the matches.

– How is the feeling of coach Shouta when saying goodbye to Team Big Baam? What is the reason why he made this decision?

Actually, I also felt very sad because I was the one who contributed to creating the Big Baam team. I tried to keep the fire for the players and new members joining the team.

However, it seems that everything has gone in the right direction. My time fund is also limited. I also have my own intention in 2022 and intend to return to professional competition. I make a decision because I feel more like playing, otherwise I will play for fun, air for entertainment and instructions for the next generation to learn.

The predestined relationship between coach Shouta and Baam has closed after only 1 year.

– What is the mood of the players? Whose idea is the grateful video of coach Shouta on the Big Baam Team homepage?

I think the team members will be fine. Anyway, I myself have left a lot of advice and ways for you to develop more. Whether or not the progress depends on whether the player is more effort.

Regarding the gratitude video with the voice of Cuppycake, I think the idea is of Tinh-sama's boss and a new member in charge of the content segment for the Big Baam team is Huy.

– What is your most memorable memory at Big Baam team?

It was probably a time when the CIVI-19 epidemic broke out in Ho Chi Minh City from June to July this year. At that time, the six of us activities together at the Big Baam Gaming House, the atmosphere in the team was really happy.

– What is your goal in the future? Did you ever think about the ability to lead another Valorant team in the country?

I still have a main job related to software. So, at this age, eSports is just passion and like part -time work. In addition, I have no plan to be a coach because I still feel more liked to play.

– Overall, how do you see the development of Valorant Vietnam in the past 1 year? Where are we compared to other teams in Southeast Asia?

In my opinion, the development progress of Valorant Vietnam is still quite slow. If compared to other countries in Southeast Asia, we cannot compare with funding and bonuses.

On the other hand, it is also possible to mention professional issues such as coach. In the top teams, they will have 2 to 3 coaches, including analysts. However, this point in Vietnam is still limited.

– What does coach Shouta think about Trinity Five and Capalot, 2 young teams have emerged in recent times?

Both Trinity Five and Capalot are still young and new teams. I think they still have a long way to catch up with the current leading teams in Vietnam. The factor they are in need is experience.

– If developing according to the current roadmap, how long do you think it will take Vietnam to have a representative to attend the Masters and Valorant Champions tournaments?

I think it will be very difficult. However, but maybe in 2022, a Vietnamese team will lead Southeast Asia to participate in the Masters?

– After Crazyguy, what is the Vietnamese player who is the most potential to go abroad?

In my opinion, in addition to the members of Baam, there are players from Division X Gaming, Fancy United Esports as well as Cerberus Esports. They all have the ability to play for a foreign team.

The Baam squad won the All-Star in Hanoi only D0RF and P1NA.

– Talking about Valorant Champions, what do you expect in 3 representatives of Southeast Asia are X10 Crit, Full Sense and Team Secret?

I only expect them to achieve the highest possible achievement in this year's tournament. It may be the positions in the top 4 or top 6.

– Coach Shouta's prediction about Valorant Champions? Which team will you cheer and wait for the name to win the championship?

I still think the European region will have a team to become the first world champion of Valorant. The two teams we appreciate are Gambit Esports and Acend. In addition, I also supported another team in Asia that I myself really like is Vision Strikers.

– Finally, coach Shouta has something to send to the Big Baam team players and fans?

Hopefully, although there are no familiar faces as well as having to play with the fledgling squad today, Big Baam team has always received your support.

– Thank coach Shouta for the interview!
