According to Blix.GG, the introduction of sports financial regulations to ensure sustainable growth and prevent teams from swinging over the transfer market. The new rules will take effect at the beginning of the 2024 season.

To ensure the total salary fund does not exceed the maximum number, the sports financial regulations encourage teams to maintain the highest salary fund within a certain scope. Low threshold and high threshold are calculated by applying many indicators, including the player's salary, the financial data of the teams and the revenue of the tournament.

The teams exceeding the threshold will have to pay 50% of the excess amount. If a team exceeds 150% of the indicator threshold, it will have to pay 100% exceeding the LEC. Sports financial regulations will take effect on November 21.

Riot Games also shared how to use fines from sports financial regulations. Half fees will be transferred to LEC teams to meet the sports financial regulations, while the rest will be used to develop the second tournament.

The exceptions will be applied if the players have signed a contract with the organization in or before the end of the LEC 2023 season final.

“In the current economic context, we make more efforts than ever to create a sustainable future,” the European League of Legends Director – Maximilian Peter Schmidt said.

“The LEC financial regulations will take effect from the beginning of the 2024 season. That's the way we are continuing to towards long -term financial sustainability.”
