– What are your goals when designing scouting skins?

Leader of Sean Marino image: From the beginning in the development process of Valorant, we tested with weapons accessories like in a game of war or real shooting. Although the idea of ​​weapons accessories that affects the game is not shown in the official Valorant version, there are still fascinating developers in the shaping of military weapons that are fully equipped with accessories. With reconnaissance skin, we want to bring the experience of a familiar modern shooting game, through guns that are slightly in the direction of modern war.

Where did you inspire and want to convey any special message through reconnaissance skin?

Sean Marino image leader: The original goal is the basic guns in Valorant must be familiar and close to reality. Therefore, the weapon we designed has many similarities with what players often encounter in other shooters. We want to go into the experience that games like PUBG, Rainbow Six … bring, that is, make players feel like using guns fully equipped with additional accessories.

Can you share interesting challenges or stories when designing scouting skins?

Sean Marino image leader: Thanks to the butterfly knife accessory, reconnaissance is one of the most expected skins. We always want to bring this accessory to the player and it is great when the reconnaissance skin has turned that into reality. We spent a lot of time watching videos about the “trick” butterfly knives, learned how other games have applied them, and did not forget to focus on creating an attractive experience.

The process of construction is continuous and different from the original plan to only allow the butterfly knife to the equipment and weapons, we decided to bring it into all stages and attacks when the weapon returned to the rest position. This skin creates a more realistic feeling that requires us to balance the animations so that they are both attractive and interesting but not too colorful and far from reality. After the animation is completed, everyone is very excited to be able to constantly spam the equipment, watching the knife and the air skewer in the game just to see the knife “dancing” in the character's hand.
