“The player, the team as well as the fans have always told us that they want more competitive tournaments among the best teams in the world,” Riot announced.
“So we were happy to finally arrange the space to add to the schedule. We are still thinking about the name and brand of the event, but there are still many other information that can be shared.”
At the beginning of the 2025 season, Riot will create the first global tournament to take place in all areas. The first round of the tournament will start with the matches in the region, with each region, selecting a team to fight in the international round of the tournament in March (a total of 5 teams for 5 areas).
The teams in the international round will play in the formula of the circle. All will see all competitions with each other in a series of matches. The 4 best teams from the rounding circle will enter a branch, with the final winning team of the coronation tournament after the end of the international round lasting 6 days.
Because this is an event starting the season, the new tournament will allow players and fans to see new season privileges in the game that League of Legends brings. Riot plans to organize annual events to test many different formats and bring interesting innovations into the first tournament.
In 2025, Riot will deploy the “Fearless Draft” version for the series in the regional and international match of the new tournament. In the matches, Fearless Draft will ban the champions selected from the previous planks in that series. This format will stir the group and bring more generals that all always want to see in the hands of professional players. Because up to now, Esports League of Legends has not implemented a new ban & selection format in first -class tournaments for many years.
To ensure that events are connected to each other, Riot will use the results of this first tournament to determine the seed position for MSI. Because the formula can change every year and the possibility of being different from the remaining schedule, Riot will not allow any winning team to automatically win the MSI.
