CES Malix: 'Global Esports and Bonkers are nothing too terrible'

– Hello coach Malix, can you introduce yourself a little bit about the readers of Thethao.vn?

Hello everyone, I'm Malix – CES's Valorant team coach.

– How is your feelings when CES won the VCT 2022: Vietnam Stage 1 Challengers, especially when this is CES's third VCT championship since its establishment?

I feel happy that the achievements in the previous VCT Vietnam of CES are not good. However, this championship will be the first step for us to accomplish the goal this year.

Coach Malix started to lead CES in April 2021

– CES had an impressive performance at the Fbang Sea EC 2021 when eliminated from the group stage. How was the whole team preparing for the 2022 season? What does CES focus on improving?

Fbang Sea EC 2021 is the launch tournament of Redneval, so the combination of the team has not been completed very much. After the tournament, I gave the whole team more in terms of communication, cohesion and foundation for all players.

– There was a little disturbance in terms of personnel when Daicute replaced Suka's position. What is the reason for this change? What did Daicute do to adapt to the new role?

The play of the Chamber agent is more suitable for Daicute. And now, after Breach's skill sets have increased power, many teams have used Breach to overcome Killjoy's tactics. During the time of competition, Daicute spent a lot of time practicing operator and practicing the Chamber agent in single matches.

– You have encountered a little difficulty in the group stage VCT 2022: Vietnam Stage 1 Challengers when losing to the OK team. What is the reason for this struggle start?

In fact, in every eSports, even if you are a top team, you will be able to lose. The loss of CES is very normal, may also be due to the unpredictable Vizz (Team Ok) play, or because CES's play is easily exploited.

– CES has confronted many strong teams in the journey to the championship. According to Malix coach, what is CES's most difficult match if not counting the final?

The match against FCY in the final of the Split map. Before entering the battle and seeing agent options from the opponent, I suspected that they were prepared to overcome CES's play. Because from the beginning of the tournament to that time, all teams in Vietnam banned the Split map when meeting CES.

CES owns a very uniform and experienced squad

– Regarding the match against FCy, CES lost 2 matches on the map of Haven and Split. What happened? How does the player's reaction when falling in a situation where there is nothing to lose?

In fact, from the beginning of the tournament, the CES map has the highest win rate of Haven. So, when they met, they prepared their homework to read CES's play, including the Split map. Not to mention FCY had time to fight with Baam before meeting CES. So, when we met Fcy, they were too “in their hands”.

– Is there any specific change in terms of CES's tactics from the Ascent map?

Probably not. A part I think FCY's operation is too focused on trying to counter CES. So, when choosing agent on the Ascent map, instead of shooting two agents, Breach and Sova, FCY has turned into Breach and Skye. Since then, CES has seen many errors that are easily exploited at FCY's attack.

– Fracture is a relatively new map for Vietnamese teams. What did you convey to the students to win the decisive match?

After 4 competition maps, I noticed the FCY gameplay depends on the use of the skills of the agents to try to force fighting and take advantage of personnel.

And after consulting the match between FCy and BW, I have attention some areas as well as the positions they often prepare traps to force the enemy to enter the world. At the initial period of match 5, CES switched to fast attack play at the time when FCY members did not expect.

– Redneval shone when leading the defeat index in the last 3 matches to help CES upstream. What does Redneval's presence mean to CES?

Redneval is one of the confrontations to create a high mutant. Redneval's style of competition also helps CES take a lot of advantages, and exploit the opponent's play and find a reasonable match for every team that CES faces.

– Among the teams from India and Australia, have any opponents CES ever caught?

Global Esports and Bonkers are the two CES teams who had previously trained. Perhaps, partly due to the effects and differences in ping. In my personal opinion, these two teams are not too formidable.

Step to the APAC, CES can welcome the return of Suka

– If including Fbang Sea EC 2021, APAC will be the fifth -class tournament CES attend. After the previous failures, what lesson did you draw? With the perspective of Malix coach, where is Valorant Vietnam compared to the common ground in the APAC area?

Earlier, our teams did not have the opportunity to compete in the Southeast Asia tournament before the first Masters. However, after the final against FCY, I think CES is capable of confronting teams in the region as well as APAC.

– What is CES's goal in the upcoming tournament?

Of course, the champion of Southeast Asia and trying to win tickets to the Masters tournament, thereby becoming the name representing the Vietnam FPS.

– Finally, did Malix coach want to send a message to CES's fans?

I would like to thank the fans of the CES organization in general and the CES Valorant team in particular. After the failed matches, we will try to maintain the current performance so as not to disappoint the audience at the launch of the APAC tournament.
